Plasterboard Stopping

Achieving Superior Stopping for Long-Lasting, Flawless Interiors

At PBF, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional stopping services designed to provide a seamless and long-lasting finish for your walls and ceilings. Gibstopping refers to the process of interior plastering, where the joins and screws in your plasterboard are expertly concealed, leaving a smooth, flawless surface ready for painting or other finishes. Our approach is underpinned by a commitment to quality, adhering to industry best practices and recognised standards.

Our Commitment to Quality
The finishing standard we use in your home or commercial property is designed to ensure the highest level of quality and durability. We follow the guidelines established by the Association of Ceiling and Wallboard Industries of New Zealand (AWCI) and comply with the AS/NZ 2589:2007 Standard for Gypsum Lining Application and Finishing. These standards ensure that our work meets and exceeds industry expectations, providing a result that stands the test of time.

To maintain the best possible finish, we collaborate closely with technical experts from our suppliers to stay updated on current best practices and new product innovations. This continuous learning and application of the latest techniques set us apart in delivering superior results.

Our Process: Ensuring a Perfect Finish
Here at PBF, we employ a meticulous process to guarantee you receive a high-quality, durable finish. Some of the key aspects of our approach include:

  • High-adhesive plasters
For the base coats, we use only plasters with strong adhesive properties. These materials provide greater crack resistance over time, ensuring the integrity of the finish even after years of use.
  • Reinforcing joins with PaperTape or FiberFuse tape
We only use Papertape or FiberFuse tape to reinforce all joins, as they offer superior strength compared to the more commonly used fibre tape. This added strength contributes to a longer-lasting, more resilient finish.
  • High-quality sealer
Before applying any skim coat to your walls or ceilings, we use a premium, oil-based pigmented sealer. This step ensures that the plaster adheres firmly to the surface, preventing any issues of detachment or cracking. Inferior sealers or skipping this step can result in serious issues, but our thorough approach eliminates those risks.
  • Detailed light checks
Throughout the process, we perform multiple light checks during and after sanding. These checks reveal any tool marks or imperfections that might become visible under normal lighting conditions. This attention to detail ensures your finish is impeccable.
  • Plasterboard fixing recommendations
If we are not responsible for the Plasterboard fixing in your project, we strongly recommend following correct Plasterboard fixing procedures to ensure a flawless final result.
