Maranui Ave Apartment repair of extensive water damage
The apartment at Maraunui Ave had suffered extensive damage due to a blocked gutter (caused by a tennis ball). PBF were asked to remove and replace around 42m2 of water damaged Gib board to walls and ceilings on two levels. Additional to this we recommended a further 35m2 be removed as more water damage became visible. After covering carpets with plastic dropsheets, we removed the water damaged Gib board and disposed of this. Using electronic moisture testers we checked the remaining Gib and timber. As the substrate contained unacceptable levels of moisture we used dehumidifiers and driers until moisture content was reduced to acceptable levels. The drying process took about 10 days. After drying we replaced Gib board with new Gib. Existing surfaces where also prepared with oil based pigment sealers to ensure that plaster would adhere long term. Stopping was finished to level 4 specifications with some areas receiving an additional skim to achieve level 5 finish. We completed the job by removing the last of the rubbish and vacuuming the home ready for paintwork. Quality checks where done using halogen lights and natural light during several times of the day. Painting was completed to a great standard by Maurice Dudley
